The company’s main activities are yielding, harvesting, conditioning and selling bundles of reeds, that are mainly intended to the creation of thatched roofs.

The company was created in 1960.
In 1980, Messrs Prévot took over from their father. |

When the company was created, the reeds were harvested manually and their marketing was exclusively oriented towards the domestic market, more specifically in the Normandy and Brittany regions. |

The most beautiful reed beds in the world! In the Camargue, reeds cover around 15'000 hectares. |

Toward 1910, in les Roseaux de Camargue. Entire families settle in for the season to exploit the reed. |

All along the years, mechanization has replaced the manual work in humid environments and markets have reached other countries in Northern Europe such as: England , Belgium and the Netherlands. |

Today, the company has 10 salaried employees and is farming more than 1,000 hectares. |

According to the years, the yield can vary between 250'000 and 300'000 bundles. |

The company “Les roseaux de Camargue » is located in VAUVERT in the South of France (in the Gard department), in Petite Camargue. |

It is farming the reed bed of Petite Camargue (in the Gard department), of Camargue (in the Bouches du Rhône), and of the Eastern Pyrenees. |

50 % of the farmed area by « Les roseaux de Camargue » is located in areas that are zoned as “Natura 2000” and is submitted to strict specifications in accordance with sustainable development. |

The company « Les roseaux de Camargue » was managed by a farmers’ economic interest group and a limited liability company. |

The two joint managers are Messrs Jean Renaud and Nicolas PREVOT. |

The company has an agricultural vocation and is also farming a vineyard of 15 hectares called « Costières de Nîmes ». |
